Chrysanthemums – Time To Get Mums

chrysanthemums flowers

Now is the time to order some of the colorful mums you expect to carry into the house by the armful this fall.

After checking notes and evaluating the merits of some of the newer chrysanthemums, we can’t help going back to the old standbys we know will withstand our changeable winters.

Completing transplanting of old clumps is important with mums. The new side plants should be separated and removed from the old woody section in the center.

The new plants should be replanted in rich loams, mixing in some barnyard fertilizer if it is available. Mums are heavy feeders.
